Engaging, Learning, Leading:
Highlights From Recent Industry Events

We proudly showcased our presence at the World Food India 2025. This landmark edition was especially meaningful as it converged with World Food India 2025 an event that celebrates India’s rich culinary heritage, cutting-edge food innovation, and global collaborations. It was a moment of pride and learning, offering deep insights into the evolving landscape of seafood and food industries.

As part of our continued commitment to strengthening India’s domestic seafood market, Avanti Feeds participated in Shrimp Retail 2025: Expanding Origins in the Shrimp Domestic Market, held on 18–19 September at The Park Hotel, Hyderabad.

The event served as a strategic platform to explore new avenues for enhancing shrimp and fish retail across India. Our team gained valuable insights into consumer trends, direct farmer-to-market models, chef-driven awareness campaigns, and the rapid evolution of digital retail. These learnings will help shape our efforts to build a more connected, resilient, and consumer-focused seafood ecosystem.

We are proud to be part of the 12th Symposium on Diseases in Asian Aquaculture (DAA12), scheduled from 23rd to 27th September 2025 in Chennai, India. Organized triennially by the Fish Health Section of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), Thailand, DAA stands as a premier platform for knowledge exchange, research advancement, and collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing aquatic animal health management across the Asia– Pacific region. This insightful gathering continues to shape the future of sustainable aquaculture through science and shared expertise.

The 14th Aquaculture Roundtable Series® (TARS) 2025 spotlighted key challenges in shrimp aquaculture, with a strong emphasis on precision farming for improved productivity and profitability.

Our team engaged in insightful discussions on global shrimp supply trends, feed and nutrition strategies, disease resilience, and emerging technologies. The event offered valuable learnings to help bridge performance gaps and rethink sustainable production models reinforcing our commitment to future-ready aquaculture.

Cluster Farming Transforms Kavali’s Aquaculture Landscape

The architect of India’s blue revolution...

Since 2017, shrimp farmers in Kavali have adopted cluster farming a coordinated, community-driven model that has revolutionized productivity and disease control across the region. Faced with severe crop losses between 2014 and 2016, over 700 farmers united to synchronize key operations across 2,000 acres, including pond preparation, seed procurement, stocking, water exchange, and harvesting. Shrimp farmers in Kavali have embraced shrimp cluster farming, a collaborative approach that has significantly improved productivity, disease management, farmers have reduced production costs and minimized the risk of disease transmission within and across clusters.Since the adoption of cluster farming, shrimp farmers in Kavali have witnessed significant gains in both productivity and survival rates. Average yields have consistently reached 6-8 tonnes per acre per crop from 2-3 mt/acre/crop while survival rates have climbed from 50% to over 80%. This progress highlights the impact of synchronized farming practices and timely technical support. Recent harvest reports from the region further affirm the success of this collaborative model, showcasing healthier crops and improved economic returns for participating farmers.

CONNECTING COMMUNITIES, CULTIVATING CHANGE:
A Farmer-First Approach to Aquaculture

The architect of India’s blue revolution...

Throughout this quarter, we successfully conducted many farmer engagement and awareness meetings across multiple states in India, with a special focus on regions where shrimp farming is rapidly evolving. These sessions were designed to empower farmers with practical knowledge on feed management and sustainable aquaculture practices, critical to improving productivity and long-term pond health. Each meeting served as a platform for live interaction, allowing farmers to share their on-ground experiences, challenges, and innovations. This quarter’s outreach reinforces our dedication to inclusive aquaculture, placing farmer voices at the forefront and championing sustainable practices that build sector-wide resilience.

White Spot Disease And It's Prevention

White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) is a highly contagious viral pathogen causing White Spot Disease (WSD) and one of the most devastating diseases affecting shrimp aquaculture in India. It poses a serious challenge to farm productivity and profitability, every year around 15-20% of seed is damaged below 4g stage with an estimated losses surpassing 1,000 crores annually.

Every year it shows 3 outbreak, March during peak winter, June-July during southwest monsoon period and in November during
northeast monsoon. This year prevalence was more than previous year due to many causes like early onset of monsoon, increase in rains, changes in viral strains and brood stock resistance, poor infrastructure, poor biosecurity tools etc are the major causes in increase in WSD this year. Many farmers are harvesting by seeing symptoms, without confirming WSD by PCR, which results in production losses.

Practical Tips To Avoid Contamination

The architect of India’s blue revolution...
  • Follow strict Biosecurity measures are key in avoiding contamination.
  • Install Biosecurity tools like Water filtration system, Bird and crab fencing, Foot and Hand dips.
  • Thorough pond preparation at least 40 days of sun drying with no moisture in the soil is key.
  • WSSV negative seed and use only SPF seed.
  • Don’t stock seed when outbreaks are in your area
  • Stock seed only when water temperature is more than 28°C and in increasing trend.
  • Always Treating source water with bleaching 30-40PPM
  • Disinfect the water with Avant Aquadis 0.5-1PPM.
  • During severe winters and rainy season use Avanti Immupack at 5g per kg feed to reduce stress.
  • Increase aeration and DO should be maintained more than 5ppm
  • Use Avant Prow probiotics 100g/acre every day in contaminated areas.
  • Cluster farming or group farming in particular area having common water source will help in significantly reducing in patho gen loads in that area.

Advancing Aquaculture Skills: The Au-avanti Aquaculture Skill Development Centre

Launched in June 2022 through a strategic collaboration between the Avanti Foundation and Andhra University, the AU-Avanti Aquaculture Skill Development Centre (ASDC) serves as a vital bridge between academic knowledge and industry practice. The centre delivers hands-on training in aquaculture, fisheries, and postharvest operations, equipping learners with the technical expertise required for field success.

By August 31, 2025, AU-AASDC had conducted 45 training programs, reaching 1,000 participants of whom an impressive 83% secured placements within the aquaculture sector. Emphasizing experiential learning, the curriculum spans key areas such as laboratory techniques, shrimp hatchery operations, shrimp farming and processing operations, fostering a workforce ready to meet the evolving demands of the industry.
